SAUTER launches Remote Management, a secure VPN connection to the plant for service technicians and facility managers. This service from the cloud makes qualified, expert contact persons from SAUTER available even without being present on site. Building operators benefit from a solution that can be implemented at short notice, faster response times, and long-term operational efficiency.
SAUTER’s service specialists support customers all over the world, from the engineering and commissioning through to maintenance and servicing of the building, to preserve the building’s value and ensure operational reliability. In recent months, companies have had to quickly switch to “remote”. Among other things, the corona crisis also uncovered where investments in technology and related processes had previously fallen short. The time is ripe to consider both short- and long-term solutions that will ensure operational efficiency, keep costs down, and optimise the building for tomorrow. Cloud computing is creating new opportunities in this area as well.
Changing priorities in uncertain times
Particularly in the area of commercial properties, SAUTER has identified the need for remote management. Remote Management is a service from the SAUTER Cloud. The cloud forms the interface between the plant and the service technician. It authenticates users, regulates authorisations and grants access to selected buildings, plants or applications via a web browser. Remote Management allows the active and immediate provision of services relating to building automation, energy management, related IT infrastructure and software applications. Thus, faults can be rectified faster and maintenance and services carried out more efficiently.
More flexibility and online expert support
The connection between the service technician and the plant creates new flexibility for the building operator. Change requests or application extensions in building management can be carried out regardless of location, and if specialist knowledge is required, experts can be called in online at any time – the cloud makes this possible.
With remote control and remote maintenance via SAUTER’s Remote Management, the operation of the property is maintained, no matter what. This service is an investment in state-of-the-art infrastructure and a prerequisite for energy- and cost-optimised building operation in the long term.

SAUTER’s IT department immediately activated, well defined, internal emergency plans. All IT systems were completely isolated and shut down to successfully prevent the attack from spreading. External cybersecurity experts and data forensics specialists then began to check all systems and restore them securely. This process is unfortunately time-consuming, but absolutely necessary to ensure that the cyber-attack does not continue at a later date.
The SAUTER websites have been affected by the emergency operation and are available again with immediate effect.
There are currently no concrete indications that our customers' infrastructures have been compromised in any way by SAUTER devices. It appears to be an opportunistic incident with no clearly recognisable long-term goals or systematic attacks. The situation does not currently suggest that there is a targeted, sustained threat to the affected systems.
